General progress ·

Own your software again.
That’s still the mission.

Eight Windows apps for creative work, documents, data and planning. Buy once, keep using the version you own, and help shape what comes next.

Where we are now

Development, testing and a more dependable preview.

The 9 September Kickstarter preview brings current Photo editing fixes and Darkroom’s RAW and colour workflows together with a branded launcher. Core editing, save/reopen and export checks pass on the development PC. Work continues across all eight apps, with broader real-file testing, fresh-PC checks and complete Photo–Darkroom handoff validation next.

The whole NeoWorks family

Progress across all eight apps.

NeoWorks Photo, NeoWorks Darkroom and NeoWorks Design make up Creative Suite. NeoWorks Writer, NeoWorks Sheet, NeoWorks PDF Editor, NeoWorks Database and NeoWorks Calendar make up Office. Together, they form NeoWorks Complete.

The 9 September Kickstarter preview includes the NeoWorks Photo and NeoWorks Darkroom work described here. Other app updates describe ongoing development. NeoWorks Writer, NeoWorks Sheet, NeoWorks Database and NeoWorks Calendar remain in development, with no new release milestone announced in this update.

Creative Suite

NeoWorks Photo

Refreshed Kickstarter preview

The new preview includes recent brush, selection, layer and file-workflow improvements, the Delete selection fix and a visible version/build label. Editing, native save/reopen, undo and export checks pass; tools marked in development remain unfinished.

Next focus

Check complete editing sessions: open, edit, undo, save, reopen and export. Continue refining text, selection and layer interactions.

Creative Suite

NeoWorks Darkroom

RAW and colour work in the preview

The new preview includes native RAW decoding, float development, colour management, PSD/PSB merged previews, saved adjustments and export options. Native and WPF workflow checks pass. Broader camera testing and the full Photo handoff still need work.

Next focus

Test more real camera files and complete the save-and-return workflow with Photo. PSD layer editing is outside Darkroom’s role.

Creative Suite

NeoWorks Design

Workspace being refined

The existing vector, shape, text, grouping and layout tools are being brought into a more consistent NeoWorks workspace. Recent work focused on dark styling and clearer controls.

Next focus

Validate object movement, resizing, text, grouping and export before including Design in a public preview.

Expanded build in testing

The latest development build adds object editing, offline text recognition, forms, certificate signing, document tabs, editable comments, batch tools and visual comparison. Build checks and a packaged-app launch were completed.

Next focus

Continue real-document testing and improve complex layout editing, accessibility tools and long-term signature validation. Full Acrobat feature parity remains a longer-term goal.

In development

Writer remains part of the suite’s document and productivity work, with document creation, editing and formatting as its core purpose.

Next focus

Validate everyday document workflows, layout, printing and file compatibility before its public preview.

In development

Sheet remains the spreadsheet app in the NeoWorks family, focused on organising, calculating and presenting data.

Next focus

Check formulas, formatting and spreadsheet import/export with practical workbooks before its public preview.

In development

Database remains the suite’s app for organising structured information. It continues on the wider Office roadmap.

Next focus

Strengthen everyday data entry, editing, queries and reliable file handling before its public preview.

In development

Calendar remains the planning and scheduling app in the NeoWorks family, alongside the document and data tools.

Next focus

Validate event creation, editing, navigation and saving before its public preview.

The path forward

A clear next step for the whole suite.

01 / Current focus

Make everyday work dependable.

Finish complete editing, saving and export workflows in Photo, Darkroom and PDF. Resolve problems found by testers and keep the controls consistent across the suite.

02 / Next milestone

Test the preview on more PCs.

Broaden camera-file testing, finish the PhotoDarkroom handoff and check fresh Windows installations, updates and removal. Bring Design and the Office apps into previews as their workflows are ready.

03 / Launch preparation

Show what backers are helping build.

Prepare real app demonstrations, a clear compatibility guide and a practical roadmap. Publish final campaign and licence terms before launch.

Installation and support: The Kickstarter download is a portable package with its runtimes included and an optional desktop shortcut. A smaller shared-runtime installer remains a separate development task; fresh-PC and upgrade testing continue. The launcher and support tools serve the apps; they are not additional products.
